Privacy Policy

Who we are

GapCite operates gapcite.com. We track whether AI assistants mention and recommend businesses, audit websites, and provide AI-generated content and outreach drafts. Customers can also use GapCite to publish content to connected websites.

What we collect

Account data

We collect your email address. We also keep the IP address of sign-in requests for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Sign-in uses an emailed one-time link, not a password.

Free scans

We collect your website URL, brand name, email address, optional competitor and IP address. You do not need an account to run a free scan.

Project data

We collect brand names, website URLs, competitors, buyer questions or prompts, brand facts you enter and buyer profiles.

Data we generate

We generate and store AI assistant answers to tracked questions, cited sources, visibility scores, website audit results, link opportunities and AI Marketer drafts.

Optional connections and uploads

  • Website analytics: you can grant read access to GapCite's service account. We read sessions, sources, key events and revenue by landing page.
  • Website publishing: we store the website or content management system credentials you enter so we can publish drafts on your instruction.
  • Tracking snippet: if installed on your site, it records AI assistant referrals and AI crawler visits. It records the assistant or bot name, page path and time. No personal data of your site's visitors is stored by the snippet.
  • Server logs: you can upload server logs for AI crawler analytics.

Messages and payments

We collect support messages and emails sent to GapCite addresses. Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. GapCite does not store card numbers.

How we use it

We use data to provide the service. This includes running scans, tracking AI visibility, auditing websites, generating drafts, publishing as instructed and providing connected analytics.

We also use data to sign you in, send service emails, respond to support requests, and prevent abuse. We never sell your data.

Who processes it

  • Payment processing.
  • Email delivery.
  • AI model providers, which receive buyer questions, public website content and brand facts to generate answers, checks and drafts.
  • AI search engines, which we query with buyer questions.

  • Bot protection on forms.
  • Website analytics on gapcite.com.
