Managing prompts and competitors
How prompts are created
Prompts are real, unbranded buyer questions. During setup, GapCite reads your website, identifies your category and generates prompts to fill your plan's allowance.
Each prompt must consistently surface known real brands before it is tracked.
Add, edit or remove prompts
- Click Visibility.
- Click Prompts.
- Click Manage prompts.
- Add, edit or remove your prompts.
Your prompt allowance depends on your plan:
- Starter: 15 prompts.
- Growth: 50 prompts.
- Pro: 100 prompts.
- Scale: 100 prompts per project.
Wait for validation
New or edited prompts wait for the next weekly run. Tracking runs on Monday, early in the morning UTC.
Validation uses 3 repeated runs and consistency scoring before a prompt is tracked. You get a notification email telling you which prompts were validated or rejected.
Prompts that fail validation appear under Recent attempts that didn't validate.
Review results and competitors
Click Prompts under Visibility to see which engines mentioned your brand or your competitors for each prompt.
You can edit your tracked competitors at any time, up to 5. Click Compare to see competitors measured side by side on the same prompts.
